No Sew Bootie Bag
Let's Make a No Sew Bootie Bag
Let's make a no sew Bootie Bag.
You will need a pair of blue jeans size woman's 5 - 7
Artist canvas (3 pack 0f 8x10's at Walmart is about 4.00)
this is the actual canvas that you paint on and frame.
Alene's tacky glue and a heavy craft bond glue
Fabric for interfacing about an 1/2 yard
Duct tape
chip clips (you know the little clips that hold your chip bags shut) to hold the bag in place while working
beaded handles or make your own with 16 gauge wire and beads.
First thing to do is cut off legs above 3 inches below crotch.
Then measure the canvas board into 3 pieces length wise
You will use the 3 pieces for the sides and bottom inside panels
Step 2) you will place two of the canvas pieces inside the bag hold them so the bag is stiff and measure the 3rd piece for the bottom. You will need to trim the panel for the bottom . I measure them and then cut them with a scroll saw. But you can use a box cutter. Just be careful not to cut into other things.
Step 3) You will then duct tape the canvas pieces together so it holds together (see pic below)
Step 4) Lay the canvas boards flay and cut out lining fabric making sure it is at least 4 inches bigger all around. Then glue the fabric onto the duct taped boards bringing the fabric over and gluing it down. I use duct tape to finish the backs for extra stability while it dries.
Step 5) Next you will cut another piece of lining fabric, Fold over and glue what will be the top edge. As you can see in the pic below... you will lay this over the open edge of the sides and glue this down over the edges, I once again duct tape the undersides for better stabililty
Step 5 cont...) This is what it will look like now. (see pic below)
Step 6) Place the completed lining inside the jean bag. Glue along along the inside (see pic below). You will also need to follow the next step at this time if you want to add beaded or bamboo handles.
Step 7) Pull the extra fabric at the bottom over the bottom panel. Glue and duct tape in place. (see pic below)
Step 8) Next step is to cut a piece of card board or a heavy weight interfacing and cover it in matching jean fabic from the legs you cut off. Glue and duct tape together then glue it to the bottom of the bag. Let set over night or at least 24 hours.

point of notice:
I bought the original tutorial.
I changed a few things to make it easier to use.
If you are doing beaded handles or bamboo handles you will need to cut two pieces 4"x3" fold over and glue to form two loops that you need to insert inside the purse between the lining and outer bag. Glue down and use clips to hold as you finish working.
Next step is across from the first picture... so scroll back up please
